How do I compress a file to fit Notion?

Use the compressor on this page. It handles video, images and PDFs, targets 5MB, runs entirely in your browser with no upload, and measures the output to confirm it is under the limit rather than estimating it.

Aim for

5MB

As of 11 Oct 2026, Notion's free plan rejects any file over 5MB. Paid plans raise that to 5GB per file, though the same page also lists caps of 20MB for PDFs and 5MB for images.

Notion limits by tier

What the same file is allowed to be, depending on the plan you are on or the route you send it by. Only the default free path is ever offered as a preset — the rest are here so you can see whether changing route is cheaper than compressing.
