Limit reference
Gmail file size limit
Aim for
18MB
They advertise
25MB
As of , Gmail's attachment limit is 25MB for sending and 50MB for receiving, but it measures the base64-encoded message. Keep the file itself under about 18MB.
The catch
Aim for 18MB, not 25MB
Gmail's 25MB cap applies to the encoded message, not the file on your disk. Base64 encoding inflates an attachment by about 33%, so a 25MB video becomes a ~33MB message and bounces. We target 18MB, which lands under 25MB once encoded.
The tool
Compress a file to fit Gmail
Video, images or PDFs, already set to 18MB. Runs on your machine — nothing is uploaded.
2Add your file
Video, images and PDFs, all compressed on your own machine. No upload, no account, no watermark, no limit on how many files.

Background
Why the limit bites, and what to do about it
- How to send a large video by emailGmail says 25MB and means about 18MB. Outlook says 20MB and often means less. Here is why, and the four ways to actually get a video sent.
- MB vs MiB, and why your 25MB file is not 25MB25MB means either 25,000,000 or 26,214,400 bytes depending on who is counting, and almost nobody says which. Here is how to be right either way.
